    DAMPNESS - CARAVAN RESEAL
With all the beautiful hot weather that we have been experiencing recently, this is a perfect time to think about having a reseal carried out to your caravans and motorhomes.  Caravans will currently be at their dryest and this will help avoid the need to run dehumidifiers to draw out residual water which helps to get the best result.  We have had huge successes with our reseal projects, significantly reducing and in some cases even eliminating signs of damp and water ingress and prolonging the

CARAVAN ELECTRICS - DISCONNECTING YOUR TOW CABLE
One of the most common call outs that we get is to a caravan where the 13 pin or 12n/12s tow bar lead has not been disconnected before the towing vehicle pulls away. This can cause costly damage and in some instances we have had to replace wire harnesses almost back as far as the centre of the caravan or worse, central junction box.  In order to help anybody who is interested we have made a self adhesive decal identical to the size of a service sticker which you can apply to the drawbar plastic

SAFE CARAVANNING - CHECK BRAKES AND WHEELS BEFORE JOURNEY
We always recommend carrying out some last minute safety checks on your wheels and braking systems before pulling away.  We have carried out some emergency work this week for one of our clients who omitted to release the handbrake before pulling away and then drove for a considerable distance with the brakes locked on without realising.  They were only alerted to the problem by cars flashing behind to warn them of smoke pouring out of the back.  This led to them having to have complete new sets
  4. PRE PURCHASE INSPECTIONS

    PRE PURCHASE INSPECTIONS
When looking for a second hand caravan, it can be a bit of a minefield as caravans can look very well kept to the untrained eye but we often have customers who purchase their van and are very disappointed when it later transpires that it has dampness within the walls, tyres/gas hoses can be out of date, the braking system can be failing and these are often safety issues.  If you have found a caravan that you are seriously considering purchasing, it is often worth having an independent engineer

    BUMPER REPAIR - BODYWORK SPECIALISTS
Here is an example of a rear bumper repair to a motor home - the owner was against having the rear end replaced due to the high cost of the parts required. We have over 30 years experience of bodywork repairs and were able to carry out the repair at a fraction of the cost of a new bumper and it looked like new once we had finished with it.

    GAS - SAFETY ISSUES
One of the most frightening things we come across can be problems with Gas installations where the work has not been carried out by a fully qualified engineer.  We were called out to a fridge not working on gas -  when we investigated, someone who had worked on the fridge previously had rubber piped the joint between the main gas supply and the fridge union which is so very dangerous - even more so because the rubber pipe had started to deteriorate. We were able to rectify and re-install the

DAMAGED SINK NOW REPAIRED AND FITTED
Here is the finished product from our previous post about the damaged sink which is now fitted back into the van - the customer was over the moon with the result - in fact he couldn’t belief it was his old broken sink and we had to show him pictures of the repair in process to convince him.  Another satisfied customer.
  8. BE SAFE - REGULARLY CHECK TYRES

BE SAFE - REGULARLY CHECK TYRES
Something that we frequently come across during the course of a service is damaged tyres.  It is so important to ensure that tyres are in a safe and roadworthy condition and yet this is often overlooked, particularly if the caravan is not regularly serviced.  Tyres on a caravan often perish/go out of date and need to be regularly assessed.  Be safe and check your tyres - if needed we can remove them, take them away and bring them back to refit them saving the owner time and the worry of towing
